The New Junior Cycle
In 2014 the new Junior Cycle was introduced to Irish schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to design programmes that are suited to the needs of their Junior Cycle students and to the particular context of the school.
English, Irish and Maths are studied at Higher and Ordinary level. All other subjects are studied at a Common Level. Some students may also study PLU's as part of the L1/L2 Learning Programme.
Every student studies Wellbeing. This subject comprises of CSPE, SPHE, PE, Wellbeing and other activities completed throughout the three years of Junior Cycle. A student's participation in wellbeing is reported on as part of the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
